When You’re Struggling with Depression
Depression isn’t just sadness. It can affect your sleep, appetite, motivation, concentration, energy and even how you see yourself and the world around you. You might feel numb, hopeless, irritable, or constantly exhausted — even if you can’t explain why.
You may be withdrawing from loved ones, losing interest in things you once enjoyed, or finding it hard to get out of bed. These experiences are more common than people realise — and you don’t have to face them alone.
Depression is treatable. With the right support, it’s possible to feel better and regain a sense of direction, meaning and connection.

How Therapy for Depression Can Help
Effective depression treatment isn’t just about managing symptoms — it’s about helping you reconnect with what matters to you, and building a life that feels worth living again.
Joanne draws from a range of evidence-based therapies, including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and increase engagement in meaningful activities.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to help you create space for difficult emotions while moving toward your values.
- Mindfulness strategies – to reduce rumination and cultivate present-moment awareness.
- Schema Therapy – for those with long-standing patterns of low self-worth or inner criticism.
- Solution-Focused Therapy – to build on your strengths and identify small, achievable changes.
Therapy is tailored to your individual needs and preferences. We work with you to set goals that feel manageable — not overwhelming.
