NDIS Psychologist Carlton

Finding suitable mental health support in Carlton when you’re an NDIS participant can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health conditions, accessing the right psychological support is essential for your wellbeing and independence. Clarity Psychology provides individual psychological therapy for NDIS participants in Carlton and surrounding areas, with a focus on evidence-based treatment delivered by experienced psychologists.
Understanding NDIS-Funded Psychology Services
Mental health support through the NDIS works in two main ways. Some people have NDIS plans specifically because of psychosocial disability—where a mental health condition significantly affects their daily functioning. Others have NDIS plans for physical, intellectual, or other disabilities and can still access psychology services to support their mental health needs.
NDIS participants do not need a referral to access psychological support, though your NDIS plan must include appropriate funding for therapy services. Psychology services typically fall under the Capacity Building category of your plan, specifically within Improved Daily Living supports.
Individual Therapy Services at Clarity Psychology
Clarity Psychology specialises in providing individual psychological therapy for adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties. Our Carlton clinic, located at the corner of Elgin and Lygon Streets, offers a convenient location for inner Melbourne residents.
Our psychologists use evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your specific needs, including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Schema Therapy
- Mindfulness-based interventions
- Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
These approaches focus on helping you understand and manage your mental health symptoms, develop practical coping strategies, and work towards your personal goals.
Mental Health Conditions We Address
Our psychologists work with NDIS participants experiencing various mental health conditions and their functional impacts. These include:
- Depression, including postnatal depression
- Anxiety disorders (generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma responses
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Bipolar disorder symptoms
- Anger management difficulties
- Grief and bereavement
- Sleep disorders
- Self-esteem and confidence issues
- Life transitions and adjustment difficulties
- Impacts of domestic violence
- Addiction concerns
- Personality disorder symptoms
Our focus remains on how these conditions affect your daily functioning and what therapeutic support can help you manage symptoms more effectively.
NDIS Funding Types We Accept
Understanding your NDIS plan management type is essential for accessing psychology services. Clarity Psychology works with two types of NDIS funding arrangements:
Self-Managed NDIS Plans
If you self-manage your NDIS plan, you pay for sessions directly and we provide detailed invoices for you to submit to the NDIS for reimbursement.
Plan-Managed NDIS Plans
For plan-managed participants, we invoice your plan manager directly after each session, streamlining the payment process for you.
Agency-Managed NDIS Plans
We cannot provide services to agency-managed participants. If you currently have agency management but would like to access our services, we suggest discussing plan management or self-management options with your support coordinator during your next plan review.

What to Expect from NDIS Psychology at Clarity Psychology
Individual therapy sessions focus on your specific mental health needs and goals. During your first appointment, your psychologist will take time to understand your current challenges, discuss your NDIS goals, and collaboratively develop a treatment approach that suits you.
Sessions provide a confidential space where you can work on managing symptoms, developing new skills, and addressing the ways mental health conditions impact your daily life. The therapeutic relationship between you and your psychologist forms the foundation for meaningful change.
Our psychologists work independently to provide psychological treatment—we do not offer NDIS plan navigation, system advocacy, or support coordination services. Our focus remains on providing quality individual therapy.
